Welding robots have the advantages of high welding accuracy, high reliability, etc. They can be used without welding positioners and can weld workpieces within the range of arm length. However, for some workpieces with complex structures or large sizes, if a welding positioner is not used to timely transform and move them to the welding range of the robot, it may interfere with the welding gun, exceed the reachable range of the welding gun, and cannot be welded.
In addition, some products require a welding positioner to adjust the weld seam to a horizontal or ship shaped position during welding, in order to ensure the quality and aesthetic appearance of the weld seam. Based on the above reasons, welding robots need to be equipped with corresponding welding positioners in order to carry out welding. Among them, flip frames, rotary tables, walking tracks, and truss tracks are mostly used
The motion coordination between welding robots and welding positioners can be in two forms: linked and non linked. Let the editor of Suzhou Weierdi Robot explain the differences in detail:
Linkage welding positioner: It can synchronize and coordinate with the welding robot, that is, during the welding process of the robot, the positioner can perform flipping actions, suitable for some workpieces with multiple flipping angles that need to be coordinated with the robot for welding. The servo motor brand of the linked welding positioner needs to be the same as that of the robot. For example, OTC robots need to be equipped with OTC original servo motors; This is a secondary development by the robot manufacturer before it can be linked with the robot, so in terms of price, the linked type is more expensive than the non linked type.
Non linked welding positioner: When the positioner changes to the required angle, the robot performs welding, and the weld seam is completed. The robot resets and the positioner changes to the appropriate angle before stopping. The robot then performs welding again, repeating this process until the workpiece is welded. In addition, non linked positioners cannot flip and stay at infinite angles, and can generally adjust up to six angles. But in terms of price, it is cheaper than linkage.
Analysis: Due to the fact that most products have spatial straight and planar curved welds, there is no need for excessive angle changes, and asynchronous coordinated motion is affordable, so welding positioners are mostly non linked.
